This is the note packet I will be using for my up-coming perspective unit in 7th grade. It includes vocabulary, practice sheets, and the rubrics for the two projects students will be completing for this unit.

THE PLAN
10+ sessions; 40 minutes per session
By the end of this unit, you should be able to…
…define perspective, proportion, horizon line, vanishing point and orthogonal line.
…illustrate a word in 1-point perspective.
…draw architecture using 2-point perspective.
…identify and demonstrate the four shading techniques.

Day 1: Do notes about perspective. Demonstrate how to draw a cube in 1-pp and have students practice in packet.
Day 2: Label vocab words on the 1-pp sheet. Continue with shape practice sheet and then letter practice sheet. Demonstrate as needed for students.
Day 3: Review project guidelines and rubric (in packet). Students must choose a noun that is 5-7 letters to draw in 1-pp. Begin drawing letters.
Day 4-6: Continue project. Illustrate the word by turning it into what it represents. Color with colored pencils. (Assign the 1-pp room sheet as homework for practice or for extra credit.)
Day 7: Move onto 2-pp. Label vocab words in note packet. Demonstrate and practice boxes.
Day 8: Demonstrate and practice the remainder 2-pp sheets (buildings, city, etc.).
Day 9-11: Review project guidelines. Students must choose architecture to draw (room interior, exterior of a house, city view, etc.) based on comfort zone. Draw on large drawing paper.
Day 12-14: Value practice sheet (in packet). Have students trace their drawing onto vellum (so that poorly erased orthogonal lines don't show up in drawing) with black Sharpies. Add value to drawing once completed with pencil.
I don't have any completed projects yet for this unit to share. We have just begun this unit in 7th grade art class this week.
The practice worksheets I refer to in the procedures come from Dawn's Brain (in the related resource
section). I printed off the sheets that I wanted to use and inserted them into my packet before I photocopied it for the students.
You could further incorporate artists from the Renaissance into this unit to talk about the beginnings of perspective.
