These are the handouts I give my students which describes the Light Graffiti project, provides objectives, the assignment, a space to brainstorm and the assessment. There is also a handout on how to create a neon glow using the pen tool in Adobe Photoshop. I try to create tutorials in Adobe Photoshop that mirror the Shooting Assignment the students are working on in class.

THE PLAN
Create a unique photograph capturing the movement of light using a slow shutter speed
1. Brainstorm ideas for your light graffiti. (will you use objects in the background or just create a drawing with light)
2. Set up your camera on a tripod and get your camera ready (slow shutter speed (adjust aperture accordingly)
3. Prepare objects/background and shoot your photographs
4. Create a contact sheet
5. Use Adobe Photoshop to crop/ make contrast adjustments/tone your best photograph
Students will be assessed with the rubric attached to their handout.
I make sure to bring in Flash lights and glow sticks for the students and give them some time to practice (sometimes they need to see how it works before they actually go out on their own and take their photographs)
