King/Queen For A Day

Students will imagine what it would be like to be a King or Queen for a day. They will write a short story about it and also draw a few pictures using the Sketch & Paint! website.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 40 minutes per session

1. SWBAT write a short story about being a King/Queen for a day.

2. SWBAT draw a few pictures for this project using the Sketch & Paint! website.

1. Computer
2. Access to the Internet
3. Printer
4. Printer paper
5. Lined writing paper
6. Pencil

1. Write a short story about what it would be like to be King or Queen for a day. List all the things you would do, what rules you would make or change, and how you think you would be remembered in history. (Story should be at least 2 paragraphs long)

2. On your computer go to http://www.onemotion.com/flash/sketch-paint/

3. Click "OK" in the middle of the screen. Select a canvas size larger than 700 pixels.

4. Create 3 pictures (Be sure to save each picture to your computer)
-Title page "King/Queen For A Day".
-A picture of yourself as King or Queen.
-A picture of what your kingdom looks like.

5. Print your pictures out and staple to your story.


A great idea to add to this project is to have students learn about famous Kings/Queens in history. (Fictional or otherwise)
