Earth Day Dot Painting

This painting project was used with my high school adaptive art class to celebrate Earth Day, though it is definitely appropriate for elementary!

THE PLAN
1 session; 50 minutes per session

Students will be able to identify water and land on an image of earth.
Students will be able to fill in an entire photo of earth with paint.

Image of earth copied on to white construction paper
Black Construction paper
white crayon
Blue and green tempera/acryllic paint
Q-tips

Students will identify the different parts of earth. Land will be painted green, and water will be painted blue.
Students will carefully dot the areas with the correct color of paint.
When dry, students will cut out their painted earth and glue it to black construction paper.
Students will create white stars in their black "space"

Students will be assessed on their ability to meet the objectives listed above.
