Cartoon Self Portraits

Students will imagine what they would look like if placed inside their favorite cartoons. Then create a self portrait in that style.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 35 minutes per session

1. SWBAT imagine how they would look in their favorite cartoon.

2. SWBAT study or collect samples of the artwork from the cartoon.

3. SWBAT draw themselves in that art style.

1. Drawing paper

2. Pencil

3. Markers

4. Color pencils

5. Watercolors

1. Pick a cartoon (It could be your favorite show or one that has a style you find interesting. Examples are: Adventure Time or The Simpsons)

2. Start collecting samples of the cartoon's art style to use as reference.

3. Start sketching your drawing on the drawing paper. (Take the time to really look at yourself and your facial features. Try to include the details in your face that makes you, you.)

4. Now it's time to color your drawing with whatever materials you think works best. (Base your color palette on what is used in the show.)

It's always good to change your style up every once in a while and to just have some fun.
