Early [PK-K] Lesson Plan

Finger Family

Students will create a family from a tracing of their hands.

THE PLAN
2 sessions; 30 minutes per session

1. SWBAT trace an outline of their hand.
2. SWBAT create a family using the outline of a hand and with the art supplies provided.

1. Glue
2. Paper (white or construction)
3. Scissors
4. Crayons
5. Markers

1. On a sheet of paper trace your or a parents hand. (If you need a bigger size scan, enlarge and print a copy of your tracing.)
2. Cut it out.
3. Color your hand. This will become the body, with each finger representing one person. (If using construction paper coloring unnecessary.)
4. On a separate sheet of paper start cutting out pieces to create the features of your family. (Faces, hair, and clothes)
5. Color and glue your pieces to your hand.

Students can create any type of family they want. They can even be aliens.
