THE PLAN
7 sessions; 45 minutes per session
• Students will create a low relief image in metal (copper foil) using the process of repoussé
• Student will be able to determine the difference between organic and geometric shapes
• Students will create a design that will be rendered on both a 2D surface and a 3D surface
Copper sheet
Wood sticks
magazine or stack of newspaper to work on
Prismacolor pencils
black construction paper
black sharpie marker
steel wool
Hot glue
-create design, place draft over copper sheet and draw over design with ballpoint pen to transfer design to copper. Work on newspaper or other soft surface.
-Work to press out metal, creating design. Alternate the side you work on so you get the most contrast.
-When design is complete, color the entire "right" side of copper with black sharpie marker.
-Use steel wool to "buff" out the high points.
-Glue copper to black construction paper
-extend design to black paper, color with colored pencil
Students will be assessed based on attached rubric.
