THE PLAN
Students will:
•Learn about different kinds of lines
Day 1
* Students will be introduced to the project. They will be told we are going to have a bad hair day, and draw it. Students will be shown a completed teacher example.
* Students will be shown the proper placement of features on the human face. Students will be shown a demonstration, then have a chance to practice drawing their self portrait. Once students feel comfortable drawing their self portrait they may begin drawing it on good drawing paper.
Day 2
* As a class we will go over different types of lines. The teacher will ask the students what types of lines they can think of and ask them to draw an example on the chalkboard. After students have several examples of lines on the board we will discuss value.
* Value id how light or dark a color is. When lines are placed closer together it creates a darker value. When lines are further apart it creates a lighter value. Once students understand the concept of value the teacher will show them how to create their bad hair day using lines and values.
* Students will have the rest of day 2 to finish their self portrait and begin their bad hair day. Students must use a minimum of 4 different kinds of lines in their hair.
Day 3
* Students will have this class as a work period to finish their bad hair day line drawing and paint it with liquid watercolors.
•Students will fill out an assessment of their artwork and hand it in with their project.
•Students will have proper placement of facial features on their self portrait
•Students have used a minimum of 4 different kinds of line in their hair
* Students will use liquid watercolors in an effective manner.
