1. Students will draw a skyline of geometric shapes: rectangles, squares, triangles, ovals and combinations of each.
2. Students will cut this skyline out of 6" by 18" construction. This will form the stencil for the town.
3. Students will prepare their palette using 3 different colors placed adjacent to each other.
4. One brush will be dragged through the 3 colors and then swooped onto the canvas on the top half with long, continuous, horizonatal brushstokes.
5. When dry, the stencil will be placed slightly over the bottom part of the sky. A dark palette will be used to color the buildings. Students will use long, straight, vertical brushstrokes for the silhouette.
6. Some textural details may be added to enhance the silhouette.
7. Students will sign their artwork.

The student's work will be assessed informally by a group Gallery Walk in the art room.
