I walk around and observe their work. Often someone needs help, but doesn't feel comfortable to raise their hand in front of the whole class. They always get a chuckle when I ask someone, who is not engaged, if "they are working hard, or hardly working?" I also pass out "caught in the act of working hard or helping others raffle tickets."

I circulate the entire time. Usually students will need me or just my proximity to keep them on task. Maybe it's because my classes are 20-25 students.

I call it "studio time" and I circulate the room than work on art myself. I know it is not always in their best interest to be over their shoulder. I think it also keeps them motivated to see me working.

I will work on little stuff, work on examples, watch for those who may need help and circulate. brittkee and I of a like mind!
