How do you hang matted pieces?

Have you successfully wired a matted piece with NO frame? We have a show to hang next week and everything must be wired, but we can't afford frames.

    Use paper clips. 2 clips each side held with tape, and you can hang like that or add wire. I saw some mounting ideas in an old Usborne book
