I'd look in to an x-acto brand. I've had mine for at least two years, and I know most of them have warranties (some for as long as 10 years). Nasco has quite a few :)

I use the Dahle 1-Hole Chubby Pencil Sharpeners, we call them chubbies! They are very durable and I put 3 on each table grouping in my classroom and assign students to be in charge of them. Check it out...

(also, if your school signs up you get 39% discount from school specialty)
I also have a Bostich SuperPro6 electric sharpener thats a bit expensive but I love it.

I use prismacolor green container sharpeners. They work well with 3rd-5th graders but younger children struggle with them . I use color sticks with all grades. They don't require sharpening and color really well.

Ok, I now found the BEST sharpener EVER!
His name is Carl Angel 5 and can be found cheap on amazon. ($18)

We treat it like a real person in my elem. art classroom.
He stays in his own little house on the table,( a box)
To use, you pull his face out, pinch his ears together, feed him his pencil, and then crank his tail. The kids love it and are very responsible with him. They call him Carl, Carl Angel, or Mr. Angel.

I agree with lightARTed! Use these only!! Works for prisma, ebony, #2, charcoal….Never breaks, works for everything! Easy to clean, unclog and use. Have 3 scattered around room. Kids don't use hand held small ones any longer.
