THE PLAN
2 sessions; 45 minutes per session
SWBAT to define and use shape
SWBAT define and use color
SWBAT to be introduced to balance and will use formal or asymmetrical balance
SWBAT create emphasis
1. Non-bleeding tissue paper
2. Liquid laundry starch
3. Tempera Paint
4. Scissors
5. Reproductions or on line images of paintings by Hans Hofmann
6. Chalk pastels - optional
7. Paint brush
1. Students will be introduced through visuals to the art of Hans Hofmann.
2. Students will cut squares and rectangles out of non bleeding tissue paper. You may let the colors be free choice or stick to a color scheme.
3. Students will apply liquid starch to the paper and place the tissue paper shapes on top.
4. Students will cover the tissue paper with a coat of liquid starch.
5. When dry, the students will fill all negative spaces with tempera paint.
6. If desired, once the paint is dry, chalk pastels can be added in the same colors as the paint
