A good review for cutting and gluing with kindergarten. Also a good introduction or review for the order of the colors in the rainbow. Teaches students about overlapping as well.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 40 minutes per session
1. SWBAT identify the order of the colors in the rainbow using ROYGBIV.
2. SWBAT cut safely with scissors.
3. SWBAT glue a collage using the dot technique.
4. SWBAT identify and create a pattern.
5. SWBAT overlap buildings to create a cityscape.
1. Large white drawing paper
2. Pencils
3. Scissors
4. Glue
5. Pre-cut construction paper in the colors of the rainbow.
6. Markers
7. Crayons
Day 1: Discuss patterns. Give each student a large piece of drawing paper. Show them how to draw a frame and create a shape/color pattern in the frame. Trace pattern with black marker and color with crayon.
Day 2: Review/teach the colors of the rainbow. Give each student construction paper in all the colors. Have them cut the rectangles of paper into different shaped buildings. They should then lay them inside their frame in the order of the rainbow, overlapping so they fit before gluing.
