Elementary [1st-5th] Worksheet

Mondrian Cubes

Created on April 07, 2014 by MrsImpey

This is a worksheet I created to go along with my 3rd grade Mondrian Cube project. I use it to review color theory with my students and as a way to incorporate ruler practice. This also links with the 3rd grade Common Core math curriculum of geometry.

This is the worksheet I use on the first day of my Mondrian Cubes project. After viewing a power point about Mondrian, students review five color families (primary, secondary, warm, cool, and complementary) but coloring in the front of the worksheet. The worksheet has the colors for each family listed, but they can be removed for a harder worksheet. Upon completing the front, students turn it over and must then design a cube in the style of Mondrian using a ruler. They then get to choose which color family from the front they want to use on their cube.

After completing this worksheet in one class period, students they get to make a clay cube to design like they did on their worksheet.
