Wordle Worksheet

I use this worksheet with 6th graders at the end of the year. Students answer the questions about art and then go through and highlight any and all words that relate to art. Then, we spend two periods in the computer lab typing the words, without commas, into a Microsoft Word file. Students then copy and paste their words (repeats and all) into the Worlde program on the internet to create some interesting word art!

THE PLAN
4 sessions; 40 minutes per session

1. SWBAT navigate the world wide web.
2. SWBAT write about art.
3. SWBAT create digital art using a computer.

Students spend two days answering the questions about art in the packet. Upon finishing, they must high light any and all words that relate to art, even repeat words.

Next, they spend two days at the computer lab typing their list of words (repeat words an all) into a Microsoft Word file. When finished, they go the the Wordle website, copy and past their words into the box and create word art!

    Have you tried Tagxedo.com? It allows the option for creating the word cloud in the shape of your own images, so you could have the kids put the words into the shapes of famous sculptures or portraits. We do it with the 4th graders as a self portrait project. They do words about themselves and put them into the shape of their own faces. ( got the idea and resource from here:
