5. SWBAT extend the color wheel onto background paper using markers and drawing shapes.

1. Trace Circle template on white paper
2. Use ruler to divide the circle into 6 equal parts.
3. Label the sections in correct color wheel order
4. Paint primary colors in correct spot.
5. Mix the secondary colors.
6. Paint secondary colors in the correct spot.
7. Cut dry color wheel out and glue to background paper
8. Use markers to extend the color onto the background paper.
9. Design area using one color and a variety of one shape to fill the area.

I begin this project with my 6th grade students on the first day of class. After the course introduction and rules and safety issues are addressed, we create the color wheel, and paint in the 6 colors. It is a great way to keep them focused and to see who can follow directions!
