1. take student's photo
2. have students choose a magazine image to weave in to their portrait. (these two images should be the same size)
3. Students cut their portrait in vertical 1" strips and their magazine image in horizontal 1" strips.
4. students will weave their two images together. They will have to decide what part of their overall composition will be in color. This does not have to be an even "every other" weave.
5. Students will tape down their composition on to paper. This will create the "grid" that they will draw from
6. Students will grid their drawing paper with a 2" inch grid.
5. I typically have students begin their drawing by completing the pencil portion. When they are ready to move on to color, I spray their drawing with workable fixative so their work doesn't smear.

Students are assessed based on their overall craftsmanship, ability to recreate their photograph, attitude, and effort.

I have my good friend Maria K. to thank for this one!
