This is a creative way to combine art and science in your classroom. This lesson plan has 3 print outs for the materials, tools and procedures for creating a collograph print made with recycled materials.

THE PLAN
1 session; 50 minutes per session
1. SWBAT define Printmaking
2. SWBAT define Collograph
3. SWBAT collect recycled materials
4. SWBAT create a printing plate and a finished print.
l. An assortment of textured recycled materials that are fairly flat
2. Adhesives, such as glue, glue sticks or glue guns
3. Printing plates
4. Printing paper
5. Scissors, markers, pencils
6. Optional burnishing tools e.g. spoons

1. Students will collect recycled material
2. Students will create a printing plate
3. Students will glue their recycled materials onto the printing plate in a pleasing design.
4. Students will ink their plate and print their collograph.
5. Students will place their print on the drying rack.
6. Students will either ink up and print up another print, or/
7. Students will clean up area.
Students will be able to frame their prints and hang in a school art show.
Artwork can be assessed with a rubric, both by themselves and their teacher.
