THE PLAN
8 sessions; 45 minutes per session
SWBAT create a paper mache mask
SWBAT decorate a mask in the style of Dia De Los Muertos
SWBAT understand the signifigance of Dia De Los Muertos
Stay Flo Starch
Newspaper cut in strips
Containers (I use yogurt containers)
Plastic Mask Forms (Mine are from Dick Blick and I have been reusing them now for 8 years)They can be used to make other types of masks as well by building up with newspaper and cardboard.
To keep track of who's mask is who's I have the kids write their names on a piece of masking tape which I place inside the mask form. Then when they are done with the form they peel off the tape and place it on the inside of their mask.
I use these masks to make an alter in our room.
