Famous Artist Sculpture

Students research famous artists, then create a 12 inch sculpture to represent them.

THE PLAN
10+ sessions; 45 minutes per session

1. SWBAT recall information about a specific artist, their style and relevance to the art world.

1. Straws(for the bone structure)
2. Newspaper(for the muscles)
3. Tape
4. Fabric Scraps
5. Air Dry Clay (facial features)
6. Yarn (hair)
7. Cardboard
8. Acrylic Paint
9. Hot glue

1. Research
2. Build the skeleton of the body with straws and tape
3. Build the muscles using newspaper and tape
4. Cover the head with air dry clay and shape the facial features, let dry
5. Paint the facial features
6. Add hair
7. Add clothing using fabric

This takes about 3 weeks if you want it done well. This was for my advanced middle school class.
