Students learn about creating community-space art and artist Sol LeWitt. Students create their own Sol LeWitt inspired artwork.

1. Go through the PPT of Sol Le Witt’s artwork. Ask student to voice their opinions and observations.
2. Ask students to identify the type of artwork (realism, pointillism, abstract etc.) ask them how they know
3. Hand out black paper and white oil pastels
4. Tell students to make 4 different types of lines going from one edge of their paper to another. Reference the line posters
5. Demonstrate how to make the white lines thick
6. Demonstrate how to dip chalk into watercups to achieve a thicker application
7. Instruct students to color each shape (as created by white lines overlapping) a different color
8. Display!

2. Student make 4 thick white lines
3. Student varied line choices
4. Student colored each shape in a different color
5. Student worked neatly
