Teacher introduces students to the artwork of Romero Britot and discusses the difference between contemporary art and historical art. Teacher shows and discusses a variety of works by Britto.
Students brainstorm ideas in their sketchbook, then transfer to final paper. Students paint separated sections in related colors. Students then add different patterns to the sections of the artwork.
Did students create an artwork in the style of Romero Brito? Do students understand the concept of pattern as it relates to art?
Be careful when googling Romero Britto - some of his artworks are not school appropriate. I recommend making a slide show of artworks you want to discuss to show to students ahead of time.
