THE PLAN
2 sessions; 40 minutes per session
1. SWBAT understand the concept of atmospheric perspective.
2. SWBAT "Draw What They See".
3. Students will be introduced to artist, Andrew Wyeth.
9x12 Drawing Paper
Sketching Paper
Pencils
Erasers
Visuals: "Christina's World" by Wyeth
Laptop Projector
Drawing Boards (outside use or hardback books work)
Coloring media (optional)
Day 1 - Intro to Andrew Wyeth
-Introduce Andrew Wyeth & Google Slide: American Painter
-He draws inspiration from his experiences & surroundings
-View "Christina's World" Discuss
-Introduce Atmospheric Perspective: involves shape, color, space
-How things are placed shows where they are
-Look at "Christina's World" explain how it shows perspective
-Take students outside to the playground area
-Instruct students to choose to draw an object far away & close up.
-These should be quick drawings
Day 2 - Drawing
-Students will go back outside and do a final drawing of the playground
-Students drawings should show aspects of perspective
Artists Draw What They See!
-Students will finish up their perspective playground drawings
Did students show perspective in the drawing?
Did they draw what they see?
Did they complete assignment in timely manner?
