1. Students will be taught a little something about lizards. Have them spend time looking and describing what they see. How many toes they have, the patterns they see, the scales or texture. Explain what birds eye view is and show examples.
2. Practice drawing lizards from a birds eye view.
Day 2
1. Draw on a large white paper a lizard from the birds eye view. Make sure not to overlap the feet with the body.
2. Introduce texture and have students use the sides of crayons or pastels to find textures to fill in the background of the lizard paper with.
3. Have students decorate the lizard with different patterns and shapes and color it in with materials of their choice.
4. Finish by outlining the lizard and the patterns with a black marker.
Day 3.
1. Have students cut out the lizard. Make sure they cut it out in one piece and save the background.
2. Glue the background to the colored construction paper.
3. Have students fold the legs, at the body fold under the body. Then at the foot, fold up. Like you are making stairs.
4. Glue the feet to the shape of the lizard on the colored paper so it looks like a shadow.
