Bioluminescent Jellyfish: Glow in the Dark

Students create glow in the dark jellyfish as part of our school's underwater black light art show!! Coffee filters, neon liquid watercolor, scissors, and yarn was all it took to make these glow in the dark jellies!

THE PLAN
Students understand the similarities and differences between bioluminescent and florescent. (If time, phosphorescence.)

Students create 3D glow in the dark jellyfish using coffee filters and fluorescent watercolor.

1. Introduce lesson with pictures of bioluminescent jellyfish and examples of the project.

2.Discuss the similarities and differences between bioluminescent and fluorescent.

3. Demonstrate how to fold and paint coffee filters.

4. When all pieces are dry demonstrate how to cut tentacles and sting together.
