Where do you get cassette tapes now a days? Tag sales or....?
Here is a handout for a project focusing on line. We used old cassette tapes, pulled out the film and glued it to matte board. Great results!

Well, I just got married in August, so I got mine from my husband's boxes of treasures that were going to be donated. I've seen cassette tapes at flea markets, record stores, or online (ebay?). Some of my kids didn't know what they were, which made me feels pretty old at the ripe age of 27. Sheesh! Fun project, none the less!

I put school glue in bottle caps and had the kids use small paint brushes. I added a couple pictures. I left the subject matter open to their choosing, so had all sorts of different results.

Ask your parents to donate old video and music tapes. We use ours as weaving material but this sound like a lot of fun and I recently came across some fantastic examples of portrait art done with cassettes called Ghost in the Machine http://www.flickr.com/photos/iri5/sets/72157611954107572 My kids loves looking at it
