High [9th-12th] Lesson Plan

Transmutation/Metamorphosis

This is a fun lesson that lets students use creativity and skills to create unique art.The student chooses two things from a list and combines them. They must have a background and shade realistically.

THE PLAN
10 sessions; 50 minutes per session

1.SWBAT combine two things into one.
2.SWBAT add a background. Can be surreal or normal.
3.SWBAT shade realistically to show light and shadow.

1. Look at list and choose at least 2 things to combine into one.
2. Do a couple thumbnails sketches to see how the mutation looks best. Also, which makes best use of space?
3. Lightly sketch out drawing on paper. Must be at least 9X12 but can be bigger (some students LOVE this project and want to do it bigger).
4. Start adding details, with medium of choice, add a light source and follow with shading.

Students will be assessed based on attached rubric.

We have spent a lot of the year working on drawing what we see, so this was a fun project for creativity and skill.
