THE PLAN
2 sessions; 40 minutes per session
1. SWBAT observe the changes in nature.
2. SWBAT create a fall tree artwork.
3. SWBAT draw a horizon line.
4. SWBAT draw fall details in a picture.
1. Large drawing paper
2. Brown construction paper
3. Pencil
4. Scissors
5. Q-tips / sponge dot brushes
6. Tempera paint (yellow, orange, red)
7. Crayons
8. Glue
1. Look outside at the trees and discuss the changes taking place in the fall.
2. Trace arm and hand on brown paper and cut out.
3. Glue onto construction paper.
4. Use dot brush to dot yellow, orange and red leaves onto the "branches" of your hand.
5. On day 2, discuss what a horizon line is and what details could be drawn in the fall scene. Encourage students to color their sky down to the horizon line and their grass all the way from the horizon line to the bottom of their paper.
This is a project that could be done for all 4 seasons! Trace the arm and hand for each tree, and use the pointillism painting technique for each season!
