I use this lesson as a filler/substitute project. It is all about experimenting with different lines and patterns to create an interesting piece of artwork.

THE PLAN
3 sessions; 40 minutes per session
1. SWBAT draw 10 different types of line.
2. SWBAT draw at least 5 different patterns.
3. SWBAT create movement in a line drawing.
This is a very straight forward, easy lesson. I introduce it to my students by having them brainstorm and draw different types of lines in groups. We come together as a group and discuss the different kinds of lines there can be, and what those lines make when you use them together. I show students an example of what they will do, let them choose a single color sharpie marker and let them go to town!
I like using this as a sub plan. It has a minimal amount of supplies and is easy enough for a sub to understand and present.
