THE PLAN
2 sessions; 40 minutes per session

1. SWBAT identify the characteristics of Burton Morris's artwork.

1. Art paper (or colored construction paper)
-Pre-cut into 9"x9" squares
2. Scissors
3. Glue
4. power point (attached)

Need these materials? Visit Blick!

Day 1: Look at Burton Morris power point and talk about the characteristics of his artwork. Have students choose a background color. Cut an interesting border around and glue it to a black frame. Talk about symmetry and how to cut out a heart by folding paper in half.

Day 2: Talk about balance and composition. Have students cut out a small variety of hearts in colors that go well and glue onto the collage. Use black scrap paper to cut out the lines like Burton Morris to glue around the edge. Finally, glue little white 'glare marks' onto the hearts.

I did this with 2nd grade.
