Teacher pre-cuts 9x12in. white drawing paper into quarters now sized 4.5x5.5in. Cut 9x12 black construction paper into quarters now sized 4.5x5.5in.
Hand one of each(black and white) to each student. Using a pencil draw a head to toe drawing of yourself in an interesting pose. Have your neighbor pose for you so you can get your arms and legs correct. Add the details of the clothes you are wearing, hats, or things you might be holding. Sharpie the pencil drawing, erase pencil marks, and then add color with colored pencils. Staple the drawing on white paper on top of the black paper. Carefully cut out the two layer figure. Be careful not to lose the fine details you've added. Ask the teacher for help with tiny areas created by bent arms and legs. Teacher has cut 9x12 in. construction paper(various colors) in half the long way. You will have a 4.5x12 piece of paper. Fold in half and glue the self-portrait drawing on the top half with feet touching the fold. Flip the black figure shape to create a mirror image(shadow) and glue it to the bottom half below the fold with feet(or hands if you are standing on your hands) touching. Hang with the lower portion protruding from the wall. SHADOW DANCING!!!
